AUGUST 24, 2026
About the Book Sign Up More Insights

My first love at August has always been being in the room with folks, teaching better ways of teaming based around the practices we’ve built over the last decade.

After years of leading workshops, learning sessions, and keynotes, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard people ask:

  • “How do I just…start with the practices?”
  • “How can I use the practices to solve [insert specific problem here]?”
  • “How do I get my team on board to try these practices?”

I believe the best way to start is by starting. But sometimes we all need a little nudge to help us get off that starting block.

That’s why I’m thrilled to be leading a Better Teaming Workshop this Thursday, August 27th.

BookToursession2

I'll guide you through how to tackle your team’s most pressing problems using the practices in Teams That Meet The Moment. Come prepared with a goal that seems out of reach, a place you keep getting stuck, or simply a desire to learn better ways of teaming.

This workshop is for anyone who believes collaboration can be better, but needs help with the how.

If you’ve been curious about what we’re really all about at August, this is the perfect time to jump into a session and see the benefits for yourself. You don’t need to have read the book. You just need to want to improve your teamwork!

I love this kind of stuff. I’m so looking forward to the energy and exploration that comes when you get a room (or Zoom) of teaming enthusiasts together.

You can register your interest at the link below and add the event to your calendar. And if you have any questions, just hit “reply” to this email. I’d be happy to chat with you.

Hope to see you there!

Quick tips to start changing how your team works

Ahead of this week’s workshop, here’s a tool you can use to parse out your team’s most pressing problem: the Team Diagnostic.

What it is: A simple process for diagnosing the needs of a team and identifying opportunities for improvement.

How to implement it: Take a look at the following categories as they relate to your team and ask yourself, “What’s working and where are we getting stuck?”

  • Mission - A specific outcome the team is working toward
  • Design - The mix of roles/skills
  • Meetings - The frequency and usefulness of team meetings
  • Communication - How the team communicates and how easy it is to speak up
  • Decisions - Our ability to make and stick to commitments
  • Feedback - How we learn from mistakes and successes

Once you identify the issues, you can prioritize where to devote your efforts…and know which challenges you’d like to discuss during the workshop on Thursday!
